Terms of Service

Last updated

These terms cover your use of Mind Goblin, a browser-based study tool for the Cisco CCNA 200-301 exam, and the subscription that pays for it.

1. Who provides Mind Goblin

Mind Goblin is operated by [OPERATOR LEGAL NAME] of [OPERATOR POSTAL ADDRESS] (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at [CONTACT EMAIL].

Mind Goblin runs on hardware the operator controls rather than a managed cloud platform. Your account, your progress, and your lab work live on that server.

2. What the service is

Mind Goblin provides a simulated Cisco IOS command line, graded lab scenarios, exam-style question banks, and progress tracking. Everything is a simulation written for teaching: it approximates the behaviour of Cisco equipment and is not that equipment.

Mind Goblin is a study aid. We do not promise that using it will result in passing the CCNA exam or any other certification, and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or certified by Cisco Systems, Inc. Cisco, IOS, Catalyst, and Packet Tracer are trademarks of Cisco Systems, Inc.

3. Your account

You need an account to use Mind Goblin. You must give a working email address and keep your password to yourself. An account is for one person; you are responsible for what happens under it.

You can sign out of every browser at once from your account page, which immediately revokes all active sessions.

4. Free trial

A new account starts with a free trial of 7 days. No card is needed to start it, and nothing is charged when it ends — the trial simply stops granting access to paid content, and your account and your progress stay as they are until you subscribe or delete the account.

The trial length is set by the operator of this instance. If it has been changed, the end date shown on your account page is the one that applies.

5. Subscriptions, payment, and renewal

Paid access is a recurring subscription, billed either monthly or annually depending on the plan you choose on the pricing page. The price, currency, and any taxes are the ones shown to you on the Stripe checkout page before you confirm.

All payments are processed by Stripe. Checkout happens on Stripe’s own hosted page, and card details are entered there, not here. Mind Goblin never receives, sees, or stores a card number. What we store against your account is a Stripe customer identifier, a subscription identifier, the plan you chose, the subscription status, and the date the current period ends.

A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period until it is cancelled. Renewal is charged by Stripe to the payment method you gave it.

If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries according to its own schedule and your subscription moves to a past-due state. Access ends when the paid period you have already covered runs out.

6. Cancelling

You can cancel at any time. Open your account page and choose Manage billing; that opens the Stripe billing portal, where cancellation, payment methods, and invoices all live.

Cancelling stops the next renewal. It does not end the period you have already paid for: access continues until the current period end shown on your account page, and then stops.

7. Refunds

Mind Goblin has no automated refund mechanism. Cancelling stops future charges but does not itself refund a charge already made. Any refund is issued manually through Stripe at the operator’s discretion, under this policy: [REFUND POLICY — e.g. no refunds on part-used periods].

Nothing here removes rights you have under consumer law where you live, including any statutory cancellation or cooling-off right. Where those rights conflict with this clause, they win. Confirm the correct wording for your jurisdiction with a lawyer before relying on this section: [STATUTORY CANCELLATION RIGHTS WORDING].

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • share your account or your sign-in details with anyone else;
  • copy, republish, or resell the lab content, question banks, or command reference;
  • attempt to reach data belonging to another account, or to bypass the subscription checks;
  • automate the service in a way that degrades it for other learners, or work around the rate limits that protect it.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why first.

9. Content and ownership

The simulator, labs, questions, and reference material remain ours. Your subscription is a personal, non-transferable licence to use them for your own study while it is active, not a transfer of ownership.

The work you produce inside Mind Goblin — your configurations, answers, and progress — is yours. You can download all of it at any time; see the privacy policy for how.

10. Closing your account

You can permanently delete your account from your account page. Deletion asks for your email address and your password, and removes your account record, your sessions, your lab and quiz history, and your entire data directory on the server. It cannot be undone and we cannot recover the data afterwards.

Deletion is deliberately refused while a subscription is still current, so that closing the account can never leave a live subscription billing you. Cancel first through Manage billing, then delete.

11. Availability

Mind Goblin is self-hosted and offered as it is. We do not promise a particular level of uptime, and the service may be unavailable during maintenance, upgrades, or failures outside our control. Back up anything you cannot afford to lose using the export described in the privacy policy.

12. Liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim relating to Mind Goblin is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. We are not liable for lost study time, exam outcomes, or indirect losses.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. The precise limits that apply depend on where you and the operator are: [LIABILITY WORDING FOR JURISDICTION].

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The “last updated” date at the top always reflects the current version. If a change materially affects a paid subscription, we will give notice before it takes effect at the email address on your account, and you may cancel if you do not accept it.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of [GOVERNING LAW / JURISDICTION], and disputes are subject to the courts of [COURTS / VENUE]. This has not been chosen for you: it depends on where the operator is established and where its customers are, and it is one of the clauses most worth a lawyer’s time.

15. Contact

Questions about these terms go to [CONTACT EMAIL]. How we handle your data is covered separately in the privacy policy.
